Accel Wideband o2 vs non accel ?
Hi Everyone. I have recently finished a 388 solid roller motor LT4 in my 93 corvette. I had the stock ecm/harness completely removed and a dfi 7 installed in its place with a dual sync. I am a noob when it comes to tuning and would like to know if you think a wideband would help 'me' tune this car. I have no knowledge of a/f ratios, timing etc etc but would like to learn this myself because i believe nobody except me will have the patience to make this car 100%
My main question is, Is there any advantage to using an Accel Wideband vs an aftermarket one? I have a version 3.2 ECU and have read that i need an ecu revision if i want to use an aftermarket wideband like the LM1 ( I think that was what it's called).
From what i have read the Accel doesn't use a linear curve and aftermarket ones do but 4.0 and later revisions can be adjusted to read linear widebands. So basically I'm at the point that if the Accel wideband has any advantage, i may purchase that and get started. If not i may save my money , get a revision done and go aftermarket.
Sorry for all the questions, hope someone doesn't mind adding any info that may help me get pointed in the right direction.

The less you know about tuning, the more a wideband O2 sensor will help you.
DFI has a new wideband out that can use the lower cost Bosch sensor (same as the LM1). As a bonus, it also functions as a datalogger for your Gen 7 ecm so you don't always need to have the laptop in the car to record data.
It's about $500 with the Bosch sensor. More info Here.
By the way, you don't need a firmware update to use an aftermarket O2 sensor. You just need version 4.0 or higher of the CalMap software. The tuning software allows you to change the O2 sensor voltage curve inside any version of the ecm. You can download the latest version from HERE.

WOuld a Bosch wideband plug right into the dfi harness (5 wire heated 02 currently in) and only require a change in setting? or do i have to buy the accels analyzer that comes as a kit?
