Need help with Datamaster, see the dynoresults !

Hello world !

I ve ordered long time ago an ALDL datacable from
www.mastach.com. I couldn't connect this till today,
i got the right version of Datamaster for
my GTA .So I was able to make some diag of my car.
I started the car and i was driving with the car too
(to record and collect all the data from the ECM)

Finally i got the results, but i still don't ve the experience
to understand how the car is running. i know there
are 3 problems with the car now :
1. the EGR valve is stuck
2. Second fan is not running
3. Distributor is getting old, need to replace it....

But i decided to provide the data file to you peoples,
so that you can maybe help me out with this.
I want make a dyno sheet of this car.

Download the program file Datamaster here :
http://www.ttspowersystems.com/softw...2/setup-32.exe This is only for my GTA 5.7 V8 from 1989

Install the program and load the datafile which contains
my diagnostics..

I ve tried to make a dynosheet, but i feel there is still
something wrong by putting the details.
is this dynosheet correct ?

You can find tech info of my car here :
http://f-body.nl/car.php?mode=viewprofile&u=2

Thanks for help !!

I don't like DM's dyno calculator, it gives me funky results too. My solution is to not use it, find a real dyno instead. I'll look at your log file when I get some time. You really need to fix the EGR and other problems before tuning. Having other issues while tuning can make the process a big pain in the AS#. The secondary fan doesn't usually turn on unless the A/C is on.

The link you have is not working for me. Why don't you just post your car's modifications...

Hi thanks for reply,

Dyno runs re here in the netherland very expensive
1 dyno run here, is almost 85-120 dollar,
just 10-30 seconds only.. no tuning, only testrun..
that's why i tried to use DM Dyno software, i just wanted
to understand it..

anyway, this GTA is almost stock..
the EGR is indeed stuck, the wire is torn
i ve ordered the new parts from TPI parts &
from Thunderracing, still waiting for the parts..

modifications :
- thermostat 180
- 8/Set Bosch 22.5lb - 0280150561 fuel injectors from five o motorsports.
- revised intake manifold + gasket.
- new spark plug wires
- revised th 700r + trans cooler + shift kit
- TPI airfoil

problems with the car :
- EGR valve (true, i know the wire is torn)
- someone told me the car is running lean (true, another injectors)
- someone told me you ve to upgrade/reprogram the ECM (true, thermostat 180 installed) planning to install a performance chip too

Forget the performance chip. They are all junk. There is a great section of this board devoted to tuning your own chip. If you plan to keep your car, it's a skill worth picking up. Think of it like changing the jets on a carb, just through your laptop/home PC. No matter what, you'll need to fix the other problems first.

It's a totally different world, read up....

I think i got it now..
I went for an new testdrive, the previous file was not really correct..
the new file is much better... i did 3 testruns.

the lowest rpm value and the highest rpm value is where
you should place the dots... BUT around these dots there
is a higher hp/torque gain, so go 10 steps left or right with the
cursor till you find the highest hp/torque.. to begin with
the start rpm, find the highest gain there, and the the end
rpm find the highest gain there too, finally you will see the
results !

each car has different settings, but for the GTA you
can use the following..

The settings are :

the new dyno :

Let me know what you think...
(there re 2 DTC error codes, nothing wrong with
the car, i forgot to reset, the codes are gone now)

Oh yeah !!
very important !! I ve just adjusted the distributor
because its was not running perfect..
i went for a testdrive after tuning and the car was
20-30% faster ! because the distributor settings were fault..
it was on 12 degree and is now on zero degree...

so the distributor is still good and there is no need to replace it...
that's why there was an error code 42...

download datafile GTA V8 5.7 TPI 1989
