LS1 Coil Schematic..
hey all,
Does anyone have or know of the wiring schematic for the ls1 coils?
I have heard there are five wires, two grounds, a 12V, and the 5V trigger and a ground for it. Am I wrong?
Also is there any more info on the schematics or workings of these coils?
Also is there a PN for the connector for the coil?
Thanks a bunch

Car: 83 TA, 89 TTA, others
Engine: ZZ4 TPI, LC2 turbo v6
Transmission: several, mostly broken
Only four wires, not five. 12V power, trigger, and two grounds.
There are two different connectors, depending on which version of the coil you have.
GM sells the connector pigtails, should be listed in the parts catalog. If you're using more than a few, it'd be a lot less expensive to buy the components from Waytek and assemble your own.
On the Denso coil (P/N 12558948), as used on the original LS1, looking directly into the coil's connector receptacle, with the connector on top...
from left to right, we have:
+12V power
Trigger
Ref Ground
(little plastic tang on the connector)
Chassis Ground
IIRC, the Delphi coils, which use a smaller connector, have the opposite sequence, i.e. if you held the coil the same way, looking into the connector with the connector on top, the +12V power would be on the far right.
