Moates' adapter on eBay (scam)?
Hey, just wanted to check and see what the general concensus was on this item. Looks like a Moates memory adapter to me, being sold under the name of LSRacing (with a chip). And for the price, looks like someone is trying to rip someone off to me. If it is Moates' product I was going to email Craig and let him know, as well as ebay. I'm not positive, but I don't really see someone being OK with their own product being sold packaged with something that is 'free knowledge' as a package labeled under someone else's name.
edit: DOH, forgot the link.

Note they're selling a chip in an adapter; though it might be Craig's adapter, I don't see the "scam" in this other than someone overpaying for a "custom" chip ;-)
Just like me buying something at wal-mart, adding some stuff to it and then selling it.

I realize it's not really a 'scam', just used that for lack of words. Just didnt think Mr. Moates would like to see his stuff being sold under a different name (note how it says LSRacing on the actual adapter).

Hah! Thanks for the heads up. Didn't know.
I don't mind, all I'm offering in this regard is making a way to do the chip swap stuff easily. Whether someone wants to put their own sticker on it or do whatever, that's their deal I guess. I guess what they're offering really is the programming (hopefully).
I imagine if the customer wants to pull back the sticker (wouldn't you?) they'll see what the deal is, right?
So, if the seller passes a couple $ my way to supply the adapters and chips, and invests in the software & time to understand what he needs to do to get good tuning, and then wants to sell that combo along to someone that doesn't want to do it themselves, that's OK I suppose. Hopefully his customers will be happy, that's pretty key. Hate to have em peel the sticker and then email me to complain!
Anyways, I got this pointed out to me, and just wanted to interject that I'm OK with it.

Cool, I just happened to stumble on it (don't even remember what I was originally searching for) and thought I'd throw it out there.
On a different note, I'll be purchasing your GP1 kit from you as soon as I can cough up some dough, you've got some nice products :hail:

Credit where due..
I think that's cool that you are OK with that Craig, but the guy should at least inform the buyers that this uses a "Moates" adapter. Give credit where its due.
IMHO, It's only fair.

Yep, scam, IMO...
FINE TUNING CAN BE DONE AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE TO FIT YOUR CARS SPECS EXACTLY. WINNING BIDDERS NEED TO EMAIL A FULL LIST OF DETAILS ON YOUR CAR SO WE CAN TAILOR THIS CHIP FOR THE SPECIFIC APPLICATION. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! THIS CHIP IS MUCH BETTER THAN A HYPERTECH, JET, OR ANY OTHER OFF THE SHELF CHIP YOU CAN BUY.
