MAP sensor throwing code but only one problem...

i work at Abc discount auto parts so i have all this free time when i'm work so i decided to throw my car on the computer code scanner. it's keeps saying i need to change the MAP sensor. but this is the problem my camaro doesnt come with one. 89 tpi and mpfi and earlier didnt have them. and my car is an 87 so is the ecm the wrong one or is it the chip that is wrong ..... another thing i have 2 ecms for it and i have swap them multiple times still getting the same code but the are both aftermarket remanufactured ecm

Since you didn't say which code your seeing all I can do is say.

Codes 33 and 34 are used in both the 89 and olders, and the 90 and newers.
While code 33 in 90+ means high voltage, low vac, in the 89s, it's MAF high. And 34 is low no signal in the 89, and low voltage in the 90s.

If you've swapped ecms and still set the code, then it would seem to be the MAF, MAF relays or wiring problem.

it throws a code 34 and i have a scan computer(also used by mechanic) at work saying it's the MAP sensor not the MAF sensor

If your car doesn't have a factory supplied MAP sensor then how can you believe the scan tool? Code 34 on an '87 TPI is a MAF error.

Your '87 should have the '165 ECM. Full service numbers are: 1227165 and 16198259. This can be found on the outside of the ECM.
