Gen VI question
I have a Gen VI ecm.
All the cables, yada, yada.
The software I got with it seems to have been corrupted.
Went to the ACCEL site and snagged a copy of the software.
If I unzip the file, I can run the program from there and things are fine.
But, once I close out of winzip, and then just try to run it from the C:Calmap the computer won't link to the ecm.
Won't even work from a shortcut, or from DOS.
TIA

Calmap cannot be installed or operated in a Windows environment. Doing so can cause corruption of the Calmap software and files. Install must be done in DOS and must be operated in DOS. Although I have been able to run Calmap under a Windows environment, files I edit eventually become corrupted causing problems with tuning. Found the problem after a last resort re-install of CALMAP in DOS and operating in DOS. Never had a corruption problem since.
Try creating a bootdisk with Calmap on it, boot the computer with the bootdisk and try running Calmap from there.
Calmap up to version 6.32 also will not communicate running on a laptop faster than a P166. There are suppose to be a few copies of a version 6.33 leaked out that is suppose to compatible with faster computers, but no one seems to have a copy of that. 6.32 is the last version Accel officially put out before the Gen 7 came out.
During the initial install of the Calmap software, you should have gone through setup for Calmap. Calmap should have prompted you for the COM port you will be using. If you weren’t asked which COM port is free, Calmap won’t know which port to use. You can manually specify which COM port Calmap will use with this prompt – C:\CALMAP>calmap com1 or com2.
If in a Windows environment, sometimes Windows will create a virtual COM port making what would be a free COM port be seen as used. Another reason why you do not run Calmap under a Windows environment.
The copies of Calmap 6.32 I have always worked fine for me. Email me if you would like my copies. Hope all this helps Grumpy…

Win 3.1
Bootable DOS disc seems to be the only way to go.
If calmap even sees windows, it gets flakey.
With a 486/25 OLD laptop things finally seem stable.
Thanks!.
