need stump pulling torque setup

I currently have a stock 350 TBI (originally a 305), but I used to drive a big block TA . The engine has 150K plus I need a new tranny, so time to pull the drivetrain. I want a big block "feel" or as close as I can get out of a 350,I'm not into high rpm HP.
I think the 383 option is too expensive.

What's the best way to get high torque cheap? Looks like improving the TBI wouldn't make much sense (454 TB $300 + injectors $200 + $250 manifold= as much as used port FI)

Thinking a stock TPI manifold would be best?
Which head?
What cam?
C.R?
Headers?

I plan on DIY Proming, I can't stand the TV kickdown is there a way to run a 4L60E with a TPI ECM?
