how long does it take for the ECM to learn

I was wondering how long it takes for the ECM to learn. Say you disconnect the battery cable like I've been hearing about. How long does it take....weeks, months....I'm rollin in a daily driver 250 L6, originally not meant for EFI. It's been bout two weeks since I went fulie. I'm assuming the ECM is still learning after two weeks.....Any help greatly appreciated..CHEVYTOWN

The ECM is always learning. That's what it has been programmed to do. The thing that makes the biggest changes are IAC learning. Lots of cars have trouble idling when the ecm is disconnected but a couple of drives around the block through the whole drive spectrum usually makes things better quickly. But even then the ecm is just doing what it has been programmed to do so it's always adapting to varying conditions as long as the conditions are inside the adaptive parameters in the software. That's the best part of EFI.
