max232, max233, or the 2 transistor cable?

As many before me, I want to give Craig Moates software a try and am attempting to make my own cable. On his website there are 3 cable diagrams. Which one is correct for an '86 LB9? and could some one explain the differences. I tried several searchs but came up with nothing. If this has been discussed before, could someone post a url to the thread. Thanks guys!

I just made the 2 transistor cable and got all the stuff from radio shack for under $5. And it runs at 8192 as long as your ECM runs at 8192. The 2-transistor cable is perfect for the newbies and tight @sses like myself Any way good luck!
