I'm nearing completion of a complete R12 to R134a conversion. I removed all of the components, flushed and cleaned everything that is going back in and have replaced the compressor, accumulator, and orifice tube. New green washers at all connections. I purchased a Schrader valve removal tool with an assortment of valves. Here's the link -
The valve o located down on the fender came out with no problem; however, the Schrader valve on the high pressure line near located where the tube comes up near the top of accumulator I cannot get out and it's definitely leaking. The removal tool fits over the valve stem but I can't find/feel the fins that the tool hooks onto to screw it out. The stem on this valve appears to be larger in diameter than the one on the low pressure side. Is it also longer?
Please let me know the trick to getting this out. I've searched other posts. Others have mentioned difficulties in getting this out but ultimately never said how they got it out.
Thanks!
