Which way LS1 water pump turns???
I need help. I recently swapped my engine on my 86 z28, it started to my surprise first time I turned key. However I have no water flow. Not sure if pump is turning the right way,if i put belt on wrong or thermostat is bad or just plain n simple pump is bad. Can anybody help? Don't want to go spend 240 on a new pump and then that's not it.How do I check for this kind of thing. Radiator is brand new
Thanks
Ozzie

get a funnel and pull the top rad hose and pour fluid in holding it up to "prime the block" fluid pumps usually dont pull a vacum if there is no fluid in it so it wont pull from the radiator then it will take a few min of running to start ciculating leave the cap off at first then it will go down
the block will take about a little bit more than a gallon

Rarely do those pumps go bad and when they do its leaks not pump failure

it turns the opposite direction as the crank- so the flat part of the belt will be against the pulley with the ribs out.

Hello guys
I wanted to tell ya thanks for your response. I didn't know to prime block first and did not know which way pump was supposed to turn. I changed thermostat as well and it's all good now,Thanks again guys
