1982 Trans Am AC condenser
I can't find a replacement listed anywhere for my 82 TA. They seem to be 1985 and up only. Anyone know if the later ones fit and what might be different?

OK - different question that would help me out. Do all condensers, besides the 1992 model year have the same size fittings? I can't understand why the early model condensers would be different.

i've noticed later condensers(not sure when change occured, but it was by 1986)have different tubing design and possibly higher fin density than earlier condensers-the late design has thinner, more closely spaced tubes in the condenser core

I should have posted a follow up on this.
I used the condenser for the later model third gens. I think I used a 1986 Camaro as a reference to order one from Amazon. You will need to change out the insulators that hold it to the core support both upper and lower but other then that it is a direct swap and the lines will fit just fine. The later model third gen condenser are what they call a 6mm design and it is about half the thickness of the original. It is supposedly more efficient and has increased cooling capacity.

The newer design condenser is a 6mm Piccolo design - which is more efficient then the old tube and fin design originally in the early third gens. While it is not a true parallel flow condenser it is a lot more efficient then the tube and fin. So once I get the charge right or give up and go back to R12 I am pretty sure it will work better then it did. My 89 TTA will freeze you out with the original R12. It has the better condenser too.
I am running the Ford blue orifice tube. I might go back to the white if I go back to R12.

Check this out. I replaced the condenser with a newer condenser from the 86 Camaro. I bought a brand new one. Bolted right in. I still had to use foam to seal it on the sides. I also replaced the the white orfice with the blue one and is blowing cold out the vents. Almost blows so cold it freezes me out of the car. I'm using 134a with ester oil 100. It doesn't blow as cold when it's over 100f but I think I need to replace the compressor next and that might fix my problem. Because the compressor is weak I'm running the system low on frigerant. 1.8 ibs for now. 30psi low side 200psi high side.
