Thermostat Housing Bolt - Factory or Bad Joke by Previous Owner

Not sure it's called a thermostat housing, but anyhow...

This is a bolt that has a nut half-way. (Threads above and below the nut that turn with the nut). When I try to back it out the top of the bolt hits a (coolant pipe?) directly above it.

It kinda appears the intake has been removed and replaced once, and I wonder if the previous owner put a wrong bolt on it before replacing the intake.

It been a while since I took the engine out so I can't remember if that kind of bolt served a second purpose as a mount of some sort, but I kinda doubt it. Never heard of removing the intake to change the thermostat....

Thats factory correct. Removing the T-body is the best way to get at that bolt.

What ttop350 is correct. That's a factory bolt. Removing the TB will help but if you don't want to do that, remove the other bolt from the housing and then start removing that bolt. Once its loose, you can lift up on the housing and begin to remove the bolt all the way.
