Cooling fan connector switch?

I was removing my stock manifolds to replace the whole exhaust system from headers to tips, and some whitish gray switch connector fell on my chest. I found the lead it goes to and it is purple. The connector just desintigrated. It was on the passenger side, connected to the head. I believe between number 8 and 6 spark plugs. Was it the cooling fan connector? Its either that or knock sensor, but I had heard knock sensor connector was black and this one was definitely originally white, before it self destructed in my hand
