coolant gauge sensor

When I rebuilt my engine I decided to get all new sensors. I believed get everything new for a fresh start. What I found out was that all the new coolant sensors for the gauge are garbage. It made my gauge about 30 degrees off. My needle was straight up when it was at operating temperature and on the cluster it read 220. My scanner on the other hand would read about 190. I took it back to the auto part store and tried about 4 different ones. half of them read being 30 degrees off and the others pegged the needle.

My solution was grabbing an old sensor from the junkyard. Now at operating temperature the needle is at the second line (the line before 220) and that is about 185 degrees and as soon as the needle slips past the line its at 190. Its nice to have a more accurate gauge.

For anyone looking for a new one, comb the junkyards for one. The new ones are garbage. If anyone has had success with a new one then let me know where you got it. lol
