How bad is having no coolant in the motor while sitting over winter?
I've recently was working on my car this past winter and drained the coolant and removed the sensors in the cylinder heat. I was going to paint my cylinder heads on the motor in the car and re-fill the cooling system. I just broke my thumb and will be out of comission for a few weeks. It was 50/50 mixed when I drained it. I drained the radiator and pulled the hose on the water pump. My question is, do you think I'll be fine if I let it sit how it is until I can start working on it? I don't see why not? Let me know.
Thanks,
Thanks,

shouldn't be an issue... i drain the water from my motorcycle for the winter every year...
the problem is leaving water in the block when stored... if it freezes it pops the freeze plugs...

No antifreeze, no problem. I would close the holes however, just to ensure no critters use your engine block as a winter cave.

I know I do. I pulled the two sensors in both cylinder heads. Without those two sensors out, I couldn't pull the headers out. So I had to drain the coolant. Now the car sits with no coolant. I figured while the headers were off I'd paint the heads. I was going to paint the plugs to keep paint out of the combustion chambers. Can't do much until my hand comes down in size from the size of a softball though.
