1 or 2 relays. lt1 fans
im currently in the process of modifying some lt1 fans to fit on my nephews 88 camaro.
was wondering if i should run 2 30 amp relays 1 for each fan and run off of a temp sensor to kick on the relays.
i will be running fans at high speed,it gets to hot here in Dallas,Tx not to have them set for high speed.
thanks
Ed

Re: 1 or 2 relays. lt1 fans
I run 2 relays on my setup and i prefer it that way. For one thing, if the car has ac then u need to have the ac compressor trigger at least one fan when it comes on. 2 relays makes that easier. Also with 2 relays there is far less chance of having both fans quit on him at the same time.
oops almost forgot. Yes you should run a temp sensor. and use it to trigger both relays.

agreed, 2 relays, both wired to the temp switch with one wired into the ac as well.

I run the lt1 fans with a Flexalite fan controller it works perfectly, no other parts needed, everything to control the fans is there. I like being able to set the on and off temps for the fans as well as the fact that this controller does not hit the electrical system with a full load start up when the fans kick on. Worth the money in my opinion.

Re: 1 or 2 relays. lt1 fans
I just burned a chip with fan on/off temps that I want to use. Once I get my car out this spring I plan on having the second fan turn on with a switch in the cylinder head.

No problem, also, I bought 2 new factory connectors to plug into the fans plugs by getting them from Rockauto.com and they weren't expensive at all. Then I used crimp connectors to hook the wires from the controller wires for plugging into fan plugs, made for a neat and easy install. Remember to hook direct to the battery for the main power wire and good grounds.

That's great advise, I appreciate it. Are you run A/C? If so, does the length of the temperature probe touch the condenser? The rad and condenser are quite close together!

Re: 1 or 2 relays. lt1 fans
No, the probe does not come through the other side, if it did, just pull it back some to avoid that. Right now I am not running a/c but it is my plans to do so with a Sanden small compressor and some custom lines. The controller has directions for hooking it up for a/c so the fans come on when you turn on the a/c. Like I said, it is a great controller, easy to hook up,easy adjustment and has been reliable since I put it in 3 years ago now.
