Re: manual fan switch...
Get a wiring diagram of the fan cuircut.
Look for the wire that grounds the fan relay, it has a temp switch at the end.
Splice into that wire, run it into the interior, to the manual switch & ground the other side of the switch.

Re: manual fan switch...
a Hayden adjustable switch is cheap enough and easy enough to install. I would deduct on purchase price of a vehicle if there was a manual fan switch knowing that an automatic switch is inexpensive. I'd assume the owner who is trying to sell is a hack and it would be a red flag to me as a buyer.
$25 to get an adjustable switch vs doing a hack job
and yes, it has the relay for air conditioning as well as a secondary lead for a second fan if your vehicle has 2 fans

Re: manual fan switch...
I installed an aftermarket cooling fan switch way back. I think it is a Hayden Thermostat Control #3647 I bought at Pep Boys for under $40.00.

Re: manual fan switch...
im kinda doin this, my stock switch works but i hate the high temp so in the mean time im gonna tap into the wire with a toggle switch so i can turn it on when wanted or leave it off and it will still come on at the stock setting, im not worried about having a hole in the console where the switch will be cause once i do get around to ordering a lower temp switch im gonna cut the vss wire goin to the computer and run it through the switch so i can disable it if needed lol, i personally dont mind doin hack jobs though for the fact ive never bought a car with the intent to sell later.

Re: manual fan switch...
Well I am not so sure having a switch on a toggle is not the most perfect idea. The thing you want is a stable temperature no matter the driving conditions, slow city traffic or highway cruise. This was my problem and I think it all goes back to the factory single fan not being able to keep up.
I have since purchased a Flex-a-lite #480 dual cooling fan (not cheap!) that has a variable temp setting and variable auto speed control that increases or dereases the fan(s) speed depending on the temperature. This my thinking is going to keep the temp constant instead of fluctauting up and down like a yo-yo. Note, I have yet to install this to see how it works.
This I am afraid is what you may get with a manual over ride switch. Will you be able to monitor the temp sufficiently to keep up with temp swings and turn on and turn off the fan soon enough to ge optimum engine performance?
