mysterious coolant leak!!!
Hey guys,
I just bought one of the champion cc951 aluminum 3 core radiators to keep my 350's temp under control. Works like a charm btw, but back to the point. For some strange reason when I turn sharply to the left a small amount of white smoke comes from what appears to be the drivers side of the engine compartment when it comes through the hood. It has happened twice since the install, which was about a week ago. Both times it happened when I was taking a hard left corner. Its not a lot of smoke at all just a quick little cloud of smoke and smelled like coolant both times to me.
I checked for leaks under the hoses connected to the radiator: nothin there
-including both big hoses and the hose for the reservoir.
-I have the a/t lines plugged cause i have a trans cooler.
The thermostat housing has only the slightest leak
-it has a new gasket, it's just because the bottom surface of the thermostat housing is not completely smooth (it's pitted) maybe a little RTV?
any way I dont think the thermostat housing is the problem considering there was only a couple of drops of antifreeze that I could see leaked through.
I tightened plug where the knock sensor would be on the driver side.
On the other side I have a mechanical engine temp sensor tightened into the block. wtf?!?! Where could it leak, seems to me like everything is tightened down.
I even looked underneath the car right after it happened and saw no leaks. So my guess is its leaking onto the headers and burning up right away, but from where?!?!!?

Re: mysterious coolant leak!!!
Might be smelling coolant from the small leak but it could be power steering try starting it and having some 1 turn it sharp and fully while u look. a pinhole could be what your looking for
