Re: What are the best bolt in radiator, fans, and water pump?
I've seen alot of posts concerning "bolt-in radiators" - but never seen where any were actually bolt-in without some kind of modifying. Not saying it's not out there, I just haven't seen anyone screaming about pain-free easy bolt-in install without some modding.
A stock replacement radiator should be plenty sufficient if there's an issue with yours. I've never seen anyone with any motor have an overheating issue that had proper fans, thermostat, timing, and air dam in place.
The seperate fan controllers work great, and I highly recommend such. I run a Flex-a-lite controller, about $100 - but the best $100 I ever spent. Fully adjustable, provisions for manual on/off switches, uses it's own wiring so no messing with stock crappy fan switches or relays - 3+ years and no issues with mine ever - my guage ALWAYS sits at the temp I have my fan adjusted to, with rare exception (long redlights and drive-thru's will raise the temp some, but I'm set at 200 and I never ever see over 220).
I'm running an older 350 block carbed, mild cam, headers, stock heavy duty water pump and that controller with a 180* stat and the stock 305 TBI radiator with 50/50 mix plus a bottle of Water Wetter and I never have issues no matter how hot it gets outside and how badly I dog it.
