Too Much Compressor Oil

Hi Everyone,

Just bought a 87 T/A TPI and have a feeling the AC system is filled with too much oil. The system was empty so after leaks fixed i attempted to fill with R134a (It had previously been converted). The compressor cycles on and off very quickly and i am unable to put the correct amount of refrigerant into the system.

So the question is how do you remove oil from the AC system?

Re: Too Much Compressor Oil

You don't know it has too much oil. Did you add any? With the leak it is possible some oil got lost also. Did you replace any part or just some o-rings? If you replaced something like a compressor you should have drained the oil from that and put that much + back in the system.

I bet you also did not evacuate the sytstem to remove any air.

Unplug the pressure switch at the dryer and jumper the wires. This should engage your clucth so the compressor will draw in the refrigerant as the engine is running with the A/C on.

Re: Too Much Compressor Oil

You've got oil in your orifice which is stopping the system up. Drain it and start over.
