Temp keeps rising on new engine
I've confirmed that the t-stat is opening, coolant is flowing, fans are running, it just seems to hover around 200-220, at idle, and with increased rpms, it will continue to climb. New temp sending unit, new fan switch, all these parts were replaced with the new motor, including the water pump. I'm running a mixture of 25% antifreeze 75% water for the initial break in to flush out any crap/rust that might be in there. Next step would be to flush it out and try new coolant, see what happens. I dunno guys I'm at a loss. Is this to be expected of new engines? Also the radiator is an alum, be cool radiator.

Re: Temp keeps rising on new engine
I would suggest making sure the radiator is cleaned. I would take it to a radiator shop and have it tested. Could also be your heater core unless you bypassed it.
I hope this helps.

if you can get a infrared thermometer, get the engine hot, turn it off and check the radiator for cold spots. if the engine is 200* the radiator should be close to that temp. if there are any areas in the rad that are 25* cooler the rad has a clog.
