Air heater valve problems?
Okay im having problems with the air heater valve, at least that's what i think its called. it has 3 lines going into it and one vacuum line, its a black plastic cone shaped piece on the passenger side of the motor. The old one pretty much broke and sprayed coolant all over. so i bought a new one. it was leaking at all the hoses so i wrapped it in Teflon tape. that worked fine for a while but now i noticed its started to leak again but its not any of the hoses, the actual cone has a break in it somewhere inside of it and leaks coolant all over the manifold and makes them smoke whenever started. i was wondering if i could make my own bypass system or if i had to buy another air heater valve.

You can delete it and bypass with new hoses - one from radiator to heater core, one from intake to heater core. On mine - radiator to driver side heater core, intake to pass side heater core.
The only consideration - the diverter valve closes when your controls are set to cool, so that no hot coolant passes through the heater core - deleting the valve means hot coolant through the heater core always, which might increase cabin temps a few degrees - I never thought twice about it myself - I never ran A/C, always windows down and tops out, and I eventually deleted the A/C entirely. I doubt you'd even really notice it though.
