Need help with 88 Camaro
Hi, I have an overheating problem with my 88 Camaro, 6 cyl. We have replaced the radiator (now has green coolant), flushed the radiator, replaced the thermostat (which was wasted), the thermostat housing and the upper radiator hose, which a hole burned in it when the engine got too hot). Still the engine overheats and when we started it up after replacing those things we get white smoke (that smells like steam?) from metal hoses in the engine...?
Also is it bad to spray WD-40 on the engine to clean it? When the radiator hose broke it sprayed coolant all over and then the coolant smoked on the hot engine too....
Please, anything will help as this is my only car, and I'm stuck. Thanks

Re: Need help with 88 Camaro
Hi, It's not leaking anymore that I know of, it is low right now because of the hose leak and I can't afford any more coolant until I get paid. (not driving it right now either). It just overheats. On the road in stop and go traffic it overheats in about 20 minutes. On the highway it seems to keep it cooler, but then as soon as you get off the highway it gets hot fast. Cooling fan does not work, can't afford to replace it till later. I don't think thats all of the problem. Whats an air dam? It is hard to replace the head gasket? Could part of the problem be the water pump? Thank you for your input

I don't think it has an air dam, I can look behind the radiator to the ground with no black plastic anywhere. Coolant was .. blue, when we changed it and before that the guy we bought it from I think it was red? maybe.
