AN Fitting on heater core

AN Fitting on heater core
anybody ever take a heater core and Have the right size AN fittings installed..
you know so it looks like the 8 or 10 AN like on a NOS Blow down tube.
have been thinking about this for some time.. as my lines are a PITA to get to with the tranny dipstick and wire harnes...this way you could install say a AN 90 elbow and run the lins away from the eng..
just need to flair the Heater core lins after the parts are installd on them.
should work...
what do you think

Re: AN Fitting on heater core
Ive seen this done before although never with a flair. Typically what i see done is because its a copper tubing people solder on a copper NPT adapter then adapt that to an AN line.

That's what I'd do. I don't know if you'd have much luck flaring thin-walled tubing of that size.

Re: AN Fitting on heater core
yea, i dont know if the thin copper would survive flaring.
I have AN on my heater core, the small size is 5/8 OD, the larger is 3/4" od. I have 90degreex1/2npt female fitting soldered tot he core, at about a 45 degree angle to the passengerside of the car, a 1/2x10an male adapter, then a 45degree hose end. Its really tight, and will work with a heater only air box, probably not the ac box. Not sure if you have any heat in the car or not.

Re: AN Fitting on heater core
Remember if you solder on the fitting it is on their permanently. If you have to replace the heater core they must be cut off. I looked into doing that a few years ago but the fittings I had would make it more difficult to remove the valve cover.

Re: AN Fitting on heater core
What about using a brass 90 degree compression fitting similar to this one? From there you could use a straight barb fitting.
