Re: mechanical fan size?

v8 camaro shrouds use an 18.5"fan,v8 firebird shrouds
use a 17"fan,both originally used 7-blade clutch fans.
For a flex fan a 2"spacer should work good,for a clutch
fan no spacer is used.

Transmission: 700r4 I think
Axle/Gears: not sure
Re: mechanical fan size?

any idea where a guy could find a reasonable kit to change over to pulley fan on 89 firebird formula that would include just about everything you need?

seems like a full time fan would be a good thing imho...?

Re: mechanical fan size?

Fan clutch from a '91 chevrolet caprice (Not sure exactly what other years work, but its gotta be reverse rotation) and a mechanical fan (Must be reverse rotation) from Summit Racing. Of course, the reverse rotation is assuming you have a serpentine belt system, being an '89 bird

Re: mechanical fan size?

thanks...it is a serp belt...hadn't even considered the reverse rotation factor...just looked at summit's site...couldn't see a conversion kit....maybe not looking in the right place?

ideally I'd like to find a bolt on full time fan app....

Re: mechanical fan size?

there is no kit,you will have to salvage the shroud from
an'82-85 firebird v8,some have reported the larger fan
shroud from an '82-85v8 camaro also just barely fits.
You could also make a shroud from aluminum or other
material if you are handy with fabrication, also might
be some shrouds meant for circle track racers that could
be adapted. For the fan itself,i am pretty sure '91-'93
caprice fan fits the camaro shrouds-for 17"firebird fan
might be some reverse rotation jeep,s-10,'89 up t-bird
that might fit.
