Mounting LT1 Dual Fans

I've done the search thing and now I need to ask the question of how has anyone mounted an LT1 fan setup in their third gen? I am going to convert from mechnical fan clutch setup to a an LT1 dual electric fans. I have the fans and I am going to put these behind a Griffin radiator that is the car. Any pics and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Mounting LT1 Dual Fans

Good question, I am looking to do this as well. I have the fans from a Caprice and am looking for a good way to mount them behind my Griffin...as well as a good way to set the radiator in there...Any ideas from those of you that have done this, we will both appreciate them!

Re: Mounting LT1 Dual Fans

I hope this will be of some help to both of you. I swapped my clutch fan in my '83 Z28 to the 3rd Gen dual electric fans. In doing this I just needed the upper and lower fan mounts along with the fans of course. Now you're wondering what this has to do with the LT1 fans - I installed a LT1 setup in my '95 Jimmy 4WD. In doing this I had to modify my upper mount but the fan shroud lower section fit in the radiator support channel. This should be the same for the Camaro but you'll need the upper support for dual fans for it to look better. And then you have the electrical controls which you can go several differnt routes. I hope these links are of some help.

Re: Mounting LT1 Dual Fans

Thanks for the reply, right now I am leaning towards the Flex-a-lite fan controller #31165 that is a variable unit and it does not hit the charging system with huge spikes on starting the fans. Now, I just need to figure out how I want to mount them. Today my new pigtail assemblies came and I confirmed that the fan assembly I have works great and indeed pulls a huge amount of air.

Re: Mounting LT1 Dual Fans

As I said on mounting the shroud/fan assembly you'll notice tabs on the bottom that will fit in the lower radiator support. If you get a 3rd gen dual fan upper bracket it would make for a clean install.

The controller is a good choice and if you were to need motors go with Siemens as they have a lifetime warranty and are the same as the 3rd Gen motors(some LS1 fan assembly use different motors).

Re: Mounting LT1 Dual Fans

I wanted both fans to run, either with head temp or AC, so here's what I did:

Re: Mounting LT1 Dual Fans

I have a 4th Gen radiator, condenser and duel fans mounted in my third gen. They interfere with the steering gear without any modification. I had to modifying the mounting feet to move the fans closer to the radiator and clearance the fan guard from the steering gear. The spinning fan itself is unmolested.

Re: Mounting LT1 Dual Fans

Well, I have my lt1 fans, and I have ordered the Flexalite adjustable fan controller and I guess I will just need to get the old fan off and do some mocking up to see what I need to do. Again thanks for the help.
