cool her down!
I got a question and want to know if its a good idea or not. I have an 87 tpi with dual fans. The ac is taken out. If im correct the passengers side fan turns on with the fan switch when the ecm tells it too, and the drivers side fan turns on when the a/c is on?....Since I dont have a/c can i wire the drivers side fan to a manual toggle switch and the leave the passenger side one for normal operation??. I assume I would just cut the wires off the drivers side fan and run them inside to the toggle switch (with a fuse and relay obviously)...Good idea? Id like to cool my engine down a bit faster during autocross runs this summer. Thanks

Re: cool her down!
If your car came stock with A/C and two fans then you should have two relays in the engine bay (one for each fan). If you want to use a manual switch then you just need to route power from a toggle switch to your second relay to engage your second fan. If you just want to have both fans come on then you could simply splice a hot wire from your first fan to the relay of the second fan so that they will both be turned on at the same time. If however you want the first fan to come on then have the second fan come on if the coolant temperature continues to rise then I would recommend a thermostatic fan control switch such as this: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku this would prevent you from accidentally forgetting the fan in the off or on position.

totally---point is, dont run the hi-amp wires through a switch...do it through the relays and not through a switch so you'll let the relays relay the power and not the switch. you'll burn up some wires if you use the switch to relay hi-amps.
