Losing coolant

Re: Losing coolant
it could be leaking from the heater core which kinda sucks cuz its leaking inside the car.
do you smell anything in the car? like burning coolant? or anything like that? there are chances it could be getting in your oil because of a bad head gasket. but its more likely its the heater core, also a bad head gasket would cause milky looking oil

Re: Losing coolant
I checked the floorboards and they seem fine not wet or anything, I havent smelt anything either. When I checked the oil earlier it seemed fine, same level it was at a week ago and its lost coolant since then. After I get back from work I will check everything again and see and if the coolant is low again. Is it possible its only leaking when im driving and not when parked?

Re: Losing coolant
i have the same problem as you, i left my car parked for a month since it had no alternator , and when i had it before i had lots of coolant, now that i checked it its significantly lower.
unless you have a small leak that its losing lots of coolant from because of the pressure when the cars started its more likely your heater core. my car doesnt have a wet floor or anything, but i assume.
another possibility is a crack in the reservoir tank. check all hoses. such as the lower one, check for cracks or small holes, and holes in the reservoir tank, also start the car and let it idle until it begins to circulate the cooling system and see if any air or bubbles are coming out, so that u make sure you dont have any air in the system which may cause some problems.

Re: Losing coolant
i had the same problem . most parts stores can do a pressure test for you . found my loss to be heater diverter valve , also had a small leak at the htr. hose to manifold near distributer . good luck .

Re: Losing coolant
check the weep hole on the water pump. if the bottom of the water pump is green colored around the weep hole your leaking (obviously lol).. mine was doing this for awhile and i never could figure it out until it finally blew out. also check all your hose clamps including the heater hoses and diverter valve.
I had a small crack in my diverter valve as well, one day i noticed it seeping while i had the car running in the driveway.. thought it was just a loose hose and when i put a screw driver on it the hose busted completely off the valve! i got a nice stream of 195* antifreeze in the face.. not fun. i guess thats what i get for leaving the car running.

Re: Losing coolant
Mine has a slightly different problem, the previous owner took very poor care of the car and its leaking somewhere from the bottom of the radiator itself, only difference is when I push on the radiator it drips coolant. They blew the freeze plugs out so im just gonna replace the entire cooling system since the car has over 225k on it all OE

Re: Losing coolant
Mine was leaking from the drains on the rad. I just cranked 'em tight, and it didn't leak again.
