i need to know the coolant sensors!!!
OK, i have an 89 RS, the fan switch is located in the passenger side head betweent he #6 and #8 cylinder correct?. There is also a coolant sensor in the intake manifold next to the thermostat, what does that run? there is also a sensor in the driver side head between the #1 and #3 cylinder, what does that run? and my final question is, does the ecm have anything to do with the fan switch (in the passenger head) turning the fan on??? Please could i get some help??

The one between the 1 and 3 on the drivers side is the coolant temp sender, and should be one wire. The temp sensor for the ecu is a 3 wire sensor, and should up by the thermostat housing. I am really not sure of the location for the fan switch, I have a clutch fan set up and don't have to worry about the electric fans not comming on. Hope this helps man.

The fan switch is between the #6 & #8 spark plugs. I run a switch from a buick grand national part # TS136 bought at Carquest about $40.00 and lasts around one year. This turns the fan on at 220* degrees and off at 200* these are estimates from memory but should be close. I have a 180* thermostat.

why not just bypass the relay and have your fan running when you put your ignition to the on position. thats what i have, it keeps the car running cooler and cools down faster if i turn the engine off. im about to install an electric water pump so i can cool that bastard even faster

I was under the impression that the ECM and two different A/C Related switches controlled when the fans come on, if that's the case, why the fan switch? and if I remember right, a very tough one to work on.

Not hard IF you can comfortably get under the car. Yes other switches regulate the fan in A/C or defroster mode. The fan switch is there for fan control when your not using A/C--defroster. You can wire it to come on with the key and by-pass the switch, but there is pro and con with this method.
I use the switch in the head for fan control.
Good luck.
