A/C and Red Tek

Does anyone know much about it? Did a search and could not find much here.
1. Do I have to evacuate the A/C system or can I just add some. Red Tek has a recharge kit and it is compatible with R12 or R134. I know there was a couple people here that tried it and like it.
2. Should a shop do this or can I do it myself
3. The kit contains:
Convenient package contains everything needed to
properly charge an A/C system quickly and
accurately. Kit includes:
• 2 cans RED TEK 12a Refrigerant
• 1 can RED TEK LeakStop • 1 High Side Fitting
• 1 Low Side Fitting • 1 High Side HD/AG Fitting
• 1 Installation Hose Kit • Installation Instructions
• Conversion Charts • Decals • MSDS Sheet
4. How much am I suppose to use?
My A/C is R12 and it is noot cool (been like that for a while) If you turn it on you can hear the clutch kicking in and out (hope this helps)
I was thinking of this so I don't have to retrofit everything just to get it charged with R134.

I took my car to a local shop, they evacuated my system and upgraded it to accept R134 by probably just replacing the fittings and seals. They charged me $130.00. I think it took 5lbs of R134 to refill the system. I had this done a month ago, so far all is working well. It cost more than doing it myself, but they offered a 30 day warranty and offered to retest the pressure of the system before the 30 days was up. I couldn't turn them down.

I was having the same issue with the compressor kicking in and out. Mine would blow semi cool air. The temp test after it was done said 42 degrees, my mechanic told me I could hang meat in the car if I wanted to lol.
