Radiator for 305 TPI (87 bird)

Hello guys and gals. I'm in Fort Worth and need some ideas on where to get a used (or inexpensive new) radiator for a 87 Trans Am (305ci V8). The car is automatic too. If any of you locals know please post..or if there are any places online you would recommend. I checked hawks but it was pretty high. Also while I've got your attention I'm seeing two or three different types of radiator for the car. One 7/8" thick and another 1 3/8" I just need to replace the factory setup.

Thanks in advance!

I bought a Griffin radiator for one of my other vehicles from summit racing. It was about $180 and was made by Griffin, but I did have to buy a trans cooler for it since the radiator didn't have one. I have not had any problems with it except that I had to modify the rubber that holds the radiator in place since this one is much fatter then the original it replaced. The temp on the gauge shows about 130 or so but I put a scanner on it and the computer says the temp is 180 which is the temp of the thermostat I put in.

Otherwise the cheapest radiator I have seen is about $125 from places like radiators.com. I would suggest calling if you do go to radiators.com since the chat thing is only to get your vehicle year and model and then it says something like "I can have Mike our technician give you a call because this is a tricky vehicle. what is your area code and phone number?"

Yea...my lucky pick was George, lol. Not to bad for a lifetime radiator though. I checked Thunder too and they didn't have anything in the 82-92 section so...Guess I may have to get one shipped and deal with it. On that note...anyone use radiatorbarn.com? They're a bit cheaper and offer free shipping.

Thanks!

You can get a replacement radiator from any local auto parts store. They are usually supplied by SPI or Modine and look just like the factory units. Price is around $150.
