How do I burp my cooling system?

How do I burp it? What is that bolt that is sticking up with a nut on it just in front of the t-stat housing? Is it for burping the system? I'm pretty sure there's an air pocket in there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

this should work also, when full cold pull the rad. cap and let the engine get as warm as it can untill the coolant starts coming out of the radiator.

usually any small bubbles make it out after awhile.
