my Waterpump?
I already read the ssxmac post on his problem.
My problem is my cooling system is bleeding like a sieve. I put coolant/water in and it seems fine, until i start driving somewhere. I have to refill the radiator once a day if i plan on driving more than 5 miles.
Today, I jacked the car up and disconnected the lower radiator hose where it connects to the waterpump. The hose itself seems fine, no splits or bulges. When i reinstall the hose, refill the radiator, the car seems to be leaking at the radiator hose/waterpump connection. After taking a drive around the block and opening the hood...there isthe telltale rusty color all over my engine compartment and block...yet none on my radiator fins...whcih tells me that its either leaking from where you put the water in, or behind the fan on the engine side of things. Im guessing its my waterpump...
Is there any way to test the waterpump without removing it, or any signs to look for?
thanks

Go to autozone and get a pressure tester. You hook it up where your radiator cap would be and pump it up. At that point, your leak will make itself readily apparent. If your water pump is shot, it might leak from the pully area. Regardless, if you suspect your water pump is shot, replace it before it's too late and you're on the road.

Don't overlook a cracked radiator tank, some times they only open up when under pressure. The plastic side tanks are notorious for that. Get a light under the water pump and look at the weep hole, if there is coolant coming from it the pump is shot and will pump it out when driving and some times only drip when sitting.
