temp switch problem

I have the dual fan setup on my 87 TPI car and had my right fan on all the time. From reading the posts here I determained that the temp sensor in the right head was bad. I replaced the stock temp switch with Napa TS 6717. It comes on at 200 and off at 190 as I recall. After replacing the switch the right fan wasn't on all the time, and everything seemed ok.

A few weeks later I lost both fans. We checked everything, replaced the relays, checked the sockets. Nothing worked. In frustration I made up a wiring harness with 2-30 amp relays to power the fans. The harness supplies power to the relays full time, and I used the temp switch in the head to ground the circuit to turn both fans on. Last weekend apparently my temp switch went bad duing an autocross event. For a temp fix I just grounded one of the fan relays so I could finish the event.

My question is, can the temp switch in the right head handle the load of grounding both the fans when the temp comes up? I've thought of adding a 2nd temp switch to lessen the load and use as a backup switch, but can't really find an open hole in the engine to install it in.

Anyone got any thoughts on this?
