overheating ... you decide...
anyway i installed a sunpro temp gauge today to check how the car runs and it stayed within 210-215... at 215 the fan would kick on(does that sound right?) also the stock gauge on the dashread ok until i drove up the interstate about a mile then got off and sat at a light... it worked its way to 260 but the car ran ok and the sunpro stayed at a steady 210... wtf, over...
anyone think my stock gauge is bad besides me???this is the first time the sunpro has been used though. but i heard b4 that the fan should kick on around 215...
well i also thought i installed the sunpro sensor into the stck ones spot but it still worked i put it in front of the tb in the manifold over by the tensioner... is that the right place?
the car has been saying that it was overheating b4 now but it always drove ok??? oh well i guess its a weird chevy thing. all the imports i have owned never made the temp gauge move... always stayed on the right temp.
i am also guessing i have a 210 thermostat... can i got to a 190 without changing the chip?

190* is the stock temp the thermostat is supposed to be. (you are probably safe going down to 180 or even 170 with the stock chip. But of course unless ur on the highway for a long while on a cool night ur not gonna see that too often. 210 is a good temperature for that thermostat. u might have a few other cooling issues (which being ur only getting to 210, ISn't really any issue) which are causing it run a tad warmer then 190.
u also might want to change ur temp sendor and verify that ur sunpro guage is working right.. but i suspect ur stock temp sending unit

the extra resovior tank is boiling after i shut my car off and i really didnt drive it hard, and sometimes the resevoir tank is empty and sometimes its full i dont get it thats the problem i am having i have a v8 rs also. I supposidly had it fixed at a shop but thing is they told me my temp gauge is 40 degrees off too hot, but still why would my resovior tank be boiling?

sounds like an air pocket. I had this problem when I re-built the top end. You need to bleed the water system of air. From cold run the car with the rad cap off, and the car heater on hot and blowing. Top the water up as the car is running, and leave the car running 'till the 'stat opens. You can check you water pump action at the same time. If this doesn't work you can put the rad cap on, and open one of the drain valves on the rad a little (please watch your hands, 220* on your hands is not good, I've got some scars), to see if that'll cure it.
Otherwise, it's down to the shop and get them to fill the system using a vacuum pump, guaranteed no air!

the thermostat was bad i pulled it and the car runs fine now i just have to go buy a new one!!!
i took the one inside from the car and put it in watert on the stove after it was in boiling water it finally opened about 1/4 of an inch. it would only open all the way if i pushed on it really hard!!
