cooling hose question
my car had been running warm when i was at idle too long at lights and stuff but i piddled with some things and i think it is fixed...
is the hoses coming from the heater core supposed to sit on top of the head??? i am new to the car so i don't know! i don't think it is supposed to but hopefully someon can let me know. the hoses go from the back of the car to the front of the head( sitting on top not connected to it). they also have some type of bypass valve in them??? my guess is its for the heater...???
any way i picked them up off the head and put them on the other side of the smog pump. off of the head. my car stays below 220 now b4 i could be sitting at idle after it has been running for about 30 mins and it would go to loke 250 or so!!! yikes!!!
but it seems ok now.
i guess the head was getting hot and then conducting the heat to the rubber hoses and making it twice as hard to cool.
i have plenty o coolant and wp pressure so i guess its not the water pump. plus there are no leaks. oh well hopefully the problem is solved.

250 holy cow man! that is freaking high, most cars run with the heater lines close to the heads that part is normal, if moving them helped then great it wont hurt anything. the valve is for heater control its vac operated and opens the line so coolant will flow to the heater core. your cooling system must be all stock since you are running in the 220 range. ramping up to 250 for any reason i would check further though.
is the car electric or clutch fan? single or dual fans and when are they coming on? is your air dam in place? that turned out to be a big one for a guy locally, he even ran a 180 stat and would only heat up at a stop.

well i think its the sensor because i put in a sunpro temp gauge and it stayed around 210 - 215 ... when it hit 215 the electric fan kicked on.
