Size of the Air Dams
I could buy one from the dealer, but I am sure at high speeds it may bend, and will not hold up to, too many curbs!! I can make one out of sheet metal but I don't have on on my car to even get the right sizes. Can anybody help?

Here are links to posts with photos of homemade and original air dams. You can get a rough idea of the size from these.

I FOUND ONE THAT SEEMS TO WORK WELL, AND I DID IT FOR SEVEN BUCKS. GO TO THE JUNK YARD AND GET THE FRONT AIR DAM OFF A S-10 PICKUP. ITS EASY TO GET OFF SINCE THE BOLTS ARE ON THE OUTSIDE. IT WILL HAVE A LIP AT THE TOP TOWARDS THE FRONT. CUT IT OFF WITH A JIGSAW. MINE IS ON A TRANS-AM, AND THERE IS A SEAM WHERE THE ORIGINAL AIR DAM BOLTS TO THE RUBBER SUPPORT ABOVE. THE NEW AIRDAM IS 1 INCH LONGER THAT THE STOCK ONE. I LOWERED MINE A LITTLE MORE. HELD IT IN PLACE WITH CLOTHES PINS OVER THE ORIGINAL, AND DRILLED 6 HOLES AND ATTACHED IT WITH 1/4 INCH BOLTS AND FLAT WASHERS (ON BOTH SIDES). BEST PART IS THE BOTTOM. IT SLOPES AHEAD THE LAST INCH AT THE BOTTOM, AND HAS BRACEING ON THE BACK SIDE. HAS IT'S OWN BUILT IN SCOOP. IT SEEMS TO COOL BETTER, BUT THE TEMPS HERE DROPPED FROM 95 EVERYDAY TO 80 SO IT'S HARD TO GET AN ACCURATE READING. I CUT MINE TO THE SAME WIDTH AS THE RADIATOR SINCE MY IROC-S HAS THAT STYLE. IT DOES DRAG GOING IN/OUT THE DRIVEWAY, BUT ITS STILL RUBBER SO BENDS.
