How rare is this

My tonneau cover switch wasnt working so I looked around for a replacement and found this yellow on ebay. Mine looks differant and has the tonneau cover print. I decided I better take mine apart and was able to clean the copper contacts and replaced the spring using an ink pen spring. Now it works great. Mine is a 91, was it replaced by the PO at some time?

Probably. The one on the right looks like the right one for a '91. Maybe the other one came from a gen4 car. No magic, its just a switch. Glad your work to repair yours turned out OK for you.

Re: How rare is this

That looks like a hatch switch (non-convertible) from a different generation but if the harness fits it then use it.

ok, saw it on eBay listed as a convertible switch thinking it was used sometime on a 3rd Gen but now I know its not even for a vert.

If your harness plugs into it then you are golden. Some of those ebay guys try to get $100.00 for a new switch. Its just a switch. I used to have a power window switch that would shoot sparks on my iroc in the mid 90s. It looked cool at night but I got one out of a wrecked car so I didn't burn my car up.

That's exactly the price they are asking for that used yellow switch and they claim its for a convertible. That's why I was asking if it was rare.

Re: How rare is this

Those console switches usually take the same harness connector it just does a different thing. If a switch hooks up to and does what you want it to for ten bucks then that sure beats a hundred. Some of those people act like theres only one left on the planet and if you don't get it your hatch or whatever will never work again. Satanic marketing 101. That kinda stuff rubs me the wrong way if you couldn't tell. It's a 5 or 10 dollar switch not the cure for cancer. And a white one works just as good as a yellow one. The white and yellow rubs off after a while anyway if you use them.
