1985 firebird convertible, restore or modify?

Hey guys, i'm new on here but am looking pretty seriously at picking up a 85 firebird convertible with a knocking 2.8 and auto Trans. It's not an autoform since it has a back seat and other then the convertible it's a pretty basic car with faded red paint but with only 32k on it. Is this a rare enough car to deserve a restoration or can I modify it without loosing sleep over the destruction of a relic?

I saw that same car on craigslist a few weeks back.it's just a 2.8 aftermarket. Conversion so I wouldn't loose sleep over an engine, tranny and rear end swap.it's been on craigslist for a long time so he might take less then asking.Btw I really really doubt it has 32k miles,it might have gone around if it has a 5 digit dash.

I'm really think thinking about doing a 5.3 swap with a 700r4. Probably put on a formula hood too. Ultimatly I'd like to run it in the Silver State Classic with my oldest son. I think it'd be a cool and fun project for us and also brings back memories of my 84 Berlinetta I had in high school.

Go for it.just be aware of what was said about the convertible specific parts.this is an aftermarket conversion that could of been done by any number of companys.5.3 sounds good but............... 5.3 turbo sounds great.

It is a base of a base and someone made it into a convertible... Do what you want... it appears to be a Hiline conversion.
