My Build - 89 RS Vert

My Build - 89 RS Vert
A friend of mine showed up at my house one day wanting to sell his 89 RS Vert.
The car only had 93,xxx miles and was stock except for a set of shorty headers and a magnaflow muffler. However, she was badly in need of some love. Unknown to me my 15 year old daughter thought it was for her and immediately fell in love. Let the fun begin...
If you look closely you can see my baby in the background...
The car was in good mechanical shape but we decided that the tan top and ugly tan interior had to go as well as the banged up rims and dry rotted tires. These pics are before I finished with a few odds and ends like installing the front grill, marker lights and fog lights but I think you get the idea how she looks now...
I have a few more pics to get off my phone and will post them in a couple of days.
This build was tough on me as I am a motor and transmission kind of guy. Since this was for my 16 year old daughter those were not in consideration this time She had to constantly remind me that she didn't want a "boy" car. I told her I only know how to do bad *** cars ( my tag is 2BADS4U ) but did manage to restrain myself somewhat.
I will post interior pics later but I recovered all the panels in gray tweed and black vinyl and installed ebony seats from a 2002 Camaro. I installed black carpet from Trim Parts, an Alpine head unit, and Pioneer speakers in the doors and rear panels. All of the interior plastics were painted with Dupli Color vinyl and fabric paint after VERY thorough prep. All I am lacking to finish the interior is a set of door sill plates HINT HINT HINT
This wasn't a very comprehensive build but I am really pleased with how the car turned out and all of the looks, honks, and whistles my baby girl has already gotten in 3 days of driving this car. There isn't anything else like it in town so her every move will be reported to dear old dad! I'd love to hear your comments.

Nice restoration you did to the car! You should at least throw on a iroc grill or 91-92 z28 grill black just to even it out a bit! Those wheels set the car off! Maybe you could talk her to letting your throw a ls1 with a 6 speed or auto in it.

IROC grill and fog lights are now installed This weekend I am going to attempt to paint the Camaro lettering red.
When I was looking at the car for me... an LS1 was definitely in the works! After I save a few bucks I'm gonna look for a decent rolling chassis to build for me.

The car has spent its' entire life in Alabama. There is no rust anywhere on the car. Well there is a little around the battery tray but not enough to require anything more than a stiff wire brush, 400 grit and a little black rattle can to fix.
