Re: Original rear Speaker size
i too have heard two different sizes. heard 6x9 (which is what i run in my hard top) and I've heard 5x8. all of the manuals i have (chilton, dealer, Mitchel OnDemand) say 6x9, but looking at the grill cover i don't think that can be right. i just haven't taken my side panels off yet to verify one way or another.

Re: Original rear Speaker size
I found the original grill in a box (not bad after 12 years of storage) it is 6x9 but the hole in the panel is round so I am really confused. I went on Crutchfield and it shows from a round 5 to a 6 3/4

Re: Original rear Speaker size
Mine were 6.5 round in a TA vert. I dont think the camaros were the same. The depth of aftermarket replacements varies significantly so best thing to do is to remove your old ones and measure before ordering anything. I replaced the OEM pieces with Rockford Fosgate units and they set in with little modification of the mounting plate. After these, I put in some Polk Audio units and I had to craft a mounting plate that moved the speaker out by about 1/2 an inch. They also fit well after this pice was added to each side. Good luck.

Mine were 5x7 and were stock in my 92 Z. I put 6.5 round infinity kappa speakers back in it. Had to add a one inch spacer though since they hit the body.

Re: Original rear Speaker size
My 6.5" rounds were original too. They had a hand cut spacer made of 1/8" thick plastic that pulled them out enough to clear the body parts in the speaker cavity. That worked OK for the Rockford's but not the Polks. Don't know why there are so many different types showing up but it looks like our cars either had 6.5 rnd, 5x7 oval, or 6x9 oval depending on the year and and make of car. Anybody have any original parts list info from 87-92 Camaros and 91& 92 FBirds?

Re: Original rear Speaker size
Mine were 5 1/4 original Ac Delco coaxial. I have replaced them with a set of Soundstream Exact 5.2 Coaxial speakers with the provided spacer without rubbing issue. But that's a while ago...Now I am considering a component replacement in a 6 1/2''. I already have an Eclipse 3 way component that I will fit on the panel while keeping the original grill for a OEM look. but I don't think a 6X9 would fit with this OE grill... In my opinion, the round speakers sounds better than an oval shaped one's
