91 Trans Am Convertible Frame Help...
Hello, I did do a quick search and did find some cool info. out, but not what I was really looking for.... Probably searched wrong choice of words?
My mom has a 91 Trans Am conv. It has 9700 original miles. She does not like to drive because she cant get top to go down. They had fabric replaced in 92 because of acid rain stains. After top was replaced it started to tear near rear window. I found that the 2nd bow actuators are bent almost 45 degrees when they should be straight. I also found out quickly that they are spring tensiled when it popped out of vise and smacked me in face when straightening...LOL. They where not allowing 2nd bow to move into it correct position which made the ends cut through belt linings and top.
Is this a common issue? I found a TSB, but no description.
My only thought was that when top was replaced, they tightened the actuators to tight, which did not allow them to pivot and made them weak and then eventually bend. Should I replace them? If so, where might I find them.

Re: 91 Trans Am Convertible Frame Help...
Just a BTW/FYI.... You guys probably knew this..., but I found (thanks to the forums here) the exploded veiw with the proper ASC part numbers and was able to order new #2 Bow actuators. I also located the TSB. From what I can see, the original actuators are straight and the one I orderer have two slight bends in them. Apparently they changed the design back in late '91-'92. I had hard time, because GM said all parts were coming up discontinued. But with the ASC part number and the fact that GM has to order from a vintage GM Parts company that buys their stock, I located both LH and RH sides. Thanks for helping, I'm usually on Mustang forums, not T/A forums.....
