What subframe connectors are compatible as a 2nd set to accompany the Alstons?
I already have the Alston sfc's welded on my car, but they mount on the inner frame and I'd really like to stiffen this baby up a little more now that I have some sticky tires on the rear with a good differential. What would be a good compatable second set to go along with these?

I have Spohns on mine with the alstons
I'm sure any other perimeter style sfc would work with the alstons

Did you install both sets at the same time, or one after the other? If you did one after the other, was there a drastic increase you noticed with having two sets instead of one?

Yeah, I installed one set at a time
I started with the alstons, cause I've had them laying around forever. They stiffened the car up, and made a noticeable difference.
then about a year or so later, I got a deal on a set of Spohns. Guy had bought them, and then sold the car. Once I got them installed, it made a huge difference. Really tightened the car up too. I could visibly see the cowl shake was almost gone.
Plus, when other 3rd genners ride in my 'vert, they always comment how it rides nicer than most hardtop cars..... just food for thought.

Re: What subframe connectors are compatible as a 2nd set to accompany the Alstons?
Do you guys have any preference for tubular or boxed subframe connectors, and have any info on whether the boxed BMR set would work with the alstons? I'm wondering if they may be even stronger than the Spohn set. I'm proba ly gonna be making a purchase in a couple weeks. I have been noticing that with my car on jack stands, the gap at the back of my doors gets bigger because of the body flex...

i would run two 2 sets of subframe connectors, one with alstons and also the spohn. with just my spohn i still get flex. if you could make a b - pillar brace that would remove a lot of flex as well.

I have BMR's on my hardtop car, and am not impressed with the build quality or fitment.
I've always used spohns sfc's up until this point. I got a 'good deal' on them.... but have regretted it ever since...
and make sure what ever brand you go with, that they offer a 'vert version. If not, they just won't clear the factory bracing.

Anyone know if the Hotchkis sfc's will work with Alstons as a 2nd set?
I got a free set of Hotchkis sfc's with a car my dad picked up this week and if they'll work it will save me the $200 or however much I was going to spend on the Spohn set.

I do know that if you have a later 3rd gen then you can only use a sfc specifically for convertibles. I know spohn and alstons work together. The reason some sfcs will not fit the later cars is that there is a boxed section on the sill area of the car.

From looking at Hotchkis's site, I don't think theirs will work. I'll end up selling them, since they came with a car we bought.
I just put in an order for the bare metal Spohn convertible set, didn't want to pay $45 for the black finish since I can get a can of black VHT epoxy paint for $5

Re: What subframe connectors are compatible as a 2nd set to accompany the Alstons?
I just did the Hotchkis in my car a few weeks ago and installation wasn't bad except for the front passenger side. Instructions recommend cutting the pipe in front of the converter, but instead, we just heated it up to cherry red and with a push bar, encourage the bend a bit more until there was enough clearance. They recommend at least 2" from the connector itself. I went with the Hotchkis after reading a photo story about their installation on the Camaro Performers magazine 83 Camaro. Out of curiousity, I looked them up and found them on this board from someone who had totalled their car. I got them for $135 bucks shipped, which saved me about a 150 from new.

Hotchkis ones don't fit verts, so I had no choice but to go with someone else. I had a free set of Hotchkis ones to use...

I have a 4 point strut tower brace that I need to repaint and put back on.
I just got the car back from the shop on Tuesday, from getting the new sfc's welded on. It feels a LOT stiffer with both sets on now. I love it

I have MAC (inner style like alston) and Spohn, it's a t-top car but there really is hardly any flex anymore (except slightly when going diagonally up or down a curb i hear a bit of creaking from the t-tops. Car is very stiff.
