Looks like its been sitting since 1991 but this seems like a car you could restore and make some $. Looks all original and being as its in N Cal I wouldnt imagine any rust.

Hmmm....
$2500 + $1000 for shipping + new fuel pump/gas tank/injectors/etc. to get it started...
Oh man, why'd you have to post this ad?

Suspisious. Not running is understandable, but why does a 2-year old car with 16k on it get parked and have the interior disassembled?
Even so, if it's not rusted and it's fairly complete, it's a steal.

Strange, but possible. My dad bought his '67 Firebird convertible around 1983. It only had 56,000 miles as it sat in someone's garage for around a decade. Mice had eaten some of the interior, the top was shot, and so was the paint job. Of course, 56,000 is more mileage than 16,900, but still - if someone doesn't care about the car, then they don't car about the low mileage either. Someone needs to check it out, and if it is legit, let me know so I can buy it!!

Well, apparently it was parked uncovered in a barn in 1991. The owner said it was bad enough where he saved it from the scrap yard in 1999. It's been sitting on the side of his house ever since.
I'd imagine that critters have pretty much chewed up the interior. I asked the owner to send me some more pics.

As for this vert, I'd be interested, but would have to verify the mileage and everything... and after all that, if you're rebuilding the car completely anyway, does the mileage really matter? I mean, if you find a car with 100k that was maintained immaculately vs. this car which looks like it was abandoned, which is really better?

Don't I know that feeling... I just got my 91 Formula back on the road... well, sort of, and it is one of those things that you just can't stop working on until it WORKS.

Yeah, in the end it smarter and cheaper to just buy a mint one. But hey - that's not how we roll.

I wish I could check it out first hand, make sure rpo codes match its legit like he says and has only 16k on it as well as figure out exactly whats not making it run. I would totally buy it and ship it turn that sucker into a show piece!

Re: Wow! A 5 speed IROC Vert with 16,900 miles for $2500!
Looks like a good deal, regardless of the work involved in bringing it back to life. Most used cars always need a fair amount of work anyway. Then some people put a lot of work into a used car, necessary or not, simply to make it their own. And that can end-up being like a restoration project. So for a car like this, I'd think it being a total restoration project won't stop it from selling quickly.
There are probably some TGO members in or near Stockton who could take a look at the car(if they haven't already), so posting this in the Norcal section might get some help for checking it out. Of course, you run the risk of having it bought out from under you that way. Or maybe one of you has a Norcal connection through TGO who could take a look at it for you?
I have no interest in buying the car, and if it was as close as two hours away, it would make for a nice afternoon roadtrip, and I'd take a look at it for everyone. But Stockton is about 6 hours away... too far for an afternoon drive.
Hit-up the Norcal guys.

Re: Wow! A 5 speed IROC Vert with 16,900 miles for $2500!
Okay. Just talked to the owner.
Apparently the original owner did some damage to the engine or ran it out of oil or something and tried to get the dealer to repair it in 1991. Dealer said no. So original owner removed oil pan and Y-pipe to have a looksee and then parked it in a barn without re-installing oil pan/Y pipe/accessories and with the top down for 8 years .
The car was going to get parted in 1999 when the current owner figured he'd save it, but never got around to it.
Top is trashed, oil pan, Y pipe, rear spoiler, belts, etc are missing. So, this car has some needs which will require some cash.

so a motor and y pipe, which you get with headers....and prolly an interior swap and top...tires, brakes, steering parts cause you know they are dry as a bone, and probobly every rubber hose known to man......verdict: still worth it

Re: Wow! A 5 speed IROC Vert with 16,900 miles for $2500!
yeah i say go for it, it seems like a really goreous car, or just buy it for parts, im sure if you offered the guy 1000$ for it he would take it i would,
nice car all in all, but leaving the oil pan off for 8 years OUCH!
who knows though, you could throw a battery in it get it over clean cemet hit the key and free it up enough to blow some of that dirt and rust out of there,
put the il pan back on change the oil filter fill it up with some lightly used oil (if its blown up whatever) then spray some starting fluid into it and see if it starts and runs, that way you can check its oil pressure, and know if itll be ok to keep that motor or just scrap it,
if its good, change the gas tank and fuel pump, and you may have a good or atleast decent running iroc vert

Car is only about 1 1/2 hours from me...Too bad...If I had a line on a stout 350 and some spare time and cash maybe, but for me I would just look for one in a little better condition...They are out there...just sayin
