The instructions on the sticky in this section say that there are rivets that you must drill out to replace the top, but the sethirdgen article doesn't mention anything about them. So which set of instructions would be more accurate for my 91 Trans Am? The se article has the same car as mine but the top appears to have been replaced before which is why I'm wondering.
Has anybody replaced their top using se's instructions?
I'm still debating if I should do it myself or send it to a shop.

Thanks guys!

I would get a shop to do mine. I'm handy with tools and have everthing to probably do it but there's alot of parts and those pads have to be put in right. The rivets should'nt be to hard to do since the holes are there to follow. Nothing beats experience when it comes to doing that kind of work and here in Houston they want $1200 + for that experience. Since I bought my convertibles I have been looking at a lot of tops from different cars. Mustangs are the worst compared to BMW and Mercedes, those tops are flawless in fit and finish. Has alot to do with the framework and the pads underneath IMO. The only thing I hate on 3rd Gen tops is the rear part, it doesn't fit tight to the car. Also there should be a better way to attach the top to that part of the frame. I see other cars with at least one side that has come loose (like mine lol)
