'92 Z28 convertible 5-speed ... The kids approve!

I've always been a 3rd Gen guy ever since I saw my first '85 IROC ... Same year I graduated HS for those that track ages! I sold my silver '85 IROC (just under 4K miles on the ticker) a couple years back.

So anyway, I got a call earlier this week about a '92 droptop. Long story short, I bought it that day. After getting it running ($26 later), I drove it home. My kids, 5 and 8, wanted to go for a spin.

Get this ... They've been in Vipers, Z06 Vettes, GTO's, stuff like that. While in the '92, my daughter said it's the best car she's ever seen. My son added that it's the coolest car we've ever owned.

There you go 3rd Gen droptop fans - Even kids love them! Attached iPhone picture is in the driveway, freshly washed. Hmmm, maybe we could squeeze in another quick cruise this afternoon ;-)

There is something about a convertible. You know where your roots are when you are driving a car you paid $4K for and loving it as much as cars you've paid 10-15 times that. Proving once again that purchase price has little to do with enjoyment ... This might be my favorite yet!

It's like wine!!! The most expensive bottle is not necesarily the best. What was the $26 for? Gas?
Nice ride. Enjoy.

$26 and about 90 minutes of my time. The first $6 was a two-way check valve, passenger side at the upper rear of the TPI. I've had one block up before and the car will not run if it can't get air into that fat fitting up top.

Once I replaced that, the car would run but was still pretty rich once it warmed up. The SES light came on, and I drove it to an auto parts store. Code 15, coolant temp sensor. So that was another $20 - Going broke here ;-)

Once I replaced the coolant temp sensor, the car runs like a champ. Still a tiny bit rich, but likely nothing a cap/rotor/timing check plus new plugs won't cure. We got caught in a rain shower today, so we had to put the top up.

It occurred to me while I was putting it up that I had no idea if the air conditioner or the wipers worked. Both worked fine! Shower ended, dried the car, top back down. Okay kids, finish your dinner so we can go out!
