Stock 350ci Convertible
Hi Guys & Girls,
Did the 1989 convertible come out with a 350 as standard from the factory. I was under the impression they did not but want clarafication?

Re: Stock 350ci Convertible
Are we talking about Camaro or Firebird? On the Firebird side, there are some 350 powered Convertibles in 1989 that ASC converted for dealers.
Remember, Pontiac didn't officially provided a Convertible Firebird until 1991. Prior to this, dealers could/would send a car in to be converted into a convertible and there was numerous conversion companies that would convert a Firebird into a Convertible. ASC later became the official conversion company and offered an official Convertible Firebird in 1991 and 1992.
There's actually a 1989 GTA 350 powered Convertible on the market right now that ASC converted.

Re: Stock 350ci Convertible
THere were at least 4 Camaro 350's made in 1987 only...
I forget the numbers of the top of my head but 42 Formula 350 convertibles and about 140 GTA or Trans Am 350 convertibles And 3 amazingly 89 3.8L Buick Powered TTA's Turbo Trans Am's in 1989...
All in all there were less than 200 L98 powered cars made, PLUS the one and only Firehawk convertible that also came with a 350... Again, a conversion, but a true Convertible, but in this case it was a Firehawk conversion, as it does not have the B4U RPO, and it has a 305 VIN, but a 350... But it is quite valuable... So just because its not a "Factory" apparently has no meaning to some...
In the art of bashing non factory cars, all of these cars were ASC conversions, however ASC converted all of the factory F-cars from 1987-2002.

Re: Stock 350ci Convertible
John is correct. I discussed the car with John some time ago (twice - both times when it was on the market). The car was on the market around this time last year, and appears to be back on the market. The car has a Salvage title and appears to have some other history (multiple repaints, wheels changed, front seats redone, etc.).
If you could get past those issues, it's a "rare" car and one that would probably be desirable to most (convertible and the largest engine possible in a ThirdGen).

Re: Stock 350ci Convertible
Does anyone know, was that car originally red? I was looking at a Vert 350 awhile ago that had about the same history of salvage title, etc etc, but it was originally red and in Ohio.

Re: Stock 350ci Convertible
The report on the VIN shows the car spent some time in Missouri, where it shows a Salvage title in 1991, then went to Texas. Not sure if it was Salvaged in 1991, or was just a carry over at that time.
I don't think the SPID is on the car as I don't have a picture of it, only everything else, when it was on the market last year. When I say repaints, I understood them to be black. I don't recall it being red, but that is not so say that it wasn't.
The car had TX plates, last year, when it was on the market.
Given there are so few of them, with a similar history (salvage title) you would wonder if it's the same car. Do you have the VIN of the car you looked at, Douglas? I have the VIN on this car if you want to compare them.
