New Top for my Vert

I've started shopping for a new top for my 92 vert. There seems to be lots of manufactures out there claiming they make the best tops.
I'm looking for a Stayfast top w/ plastic window and the prices range from as low as $169 to over $400. I've seen topsonline, EZ softtops, Autotops and a host of other shops claiming the have the best tops.
I'm more interested in quality than cost as I don't want to have to replace it again. Any recommendations?

I would go with topsonline great quality and good price. plus they carry wear pads and new side tension cables in case you need them. check that first and order all in one order so it doesn't get held up. also it is your choice but I would go with a plastic window instead of glass not sure which you are using but the plastic window makes it way easier to see since it is way bigger and less of a hassle if you put the top up and down but being in Cali most people leave it down all the time there(lucky f*ckers, sure can't do that here)

Idk, the glass ones aren't supposed to be THAT much smaller... pluss they won't scratch and fog up like the stupid plastic ones.

I had a plastic one. You only have to make one mistake about folding the vinyl window and you can live with it. I have just purchased a Tops On Line glass one but yet to be installed.

don't get me wrong there are advantages to the glass windows (as said they don't scratch or get fogged up. But I thought it was considerably smaller than the plastic window and you have to fold the rear seats to fold down which isn't that big a deal. Myself I like the plastic window better because of them being original to the car.

Re: New Top for my Vert

i went with the tops on line top with the plastic window. installation was easy and im very happy with it. i do not recommed going with the vinyl top. the stay fast will last longer and doesnt look as cheap as the vinyl.

Tonys91RS: Did you install the top yourself? Any help and would you recommend doing it yourself? My son and I installed a Corvette top and found it not too bad. However, to do a Mustang top if pretty hard I thought.

It isn't bad it is all in the prep work and get plenty of the small plastic spring clamps I used weldwood contact cement to install and held up good. don't get it extremely tight either with a canvas top it shrinks anyhow, as long as you get it fairly tight it is OK. I usually get it wet and let it sun dry to shrink it.

Re: New Top for my Vert

I looked at tops with glass windows at first but I think I want to keep the car stock. The plastic windows do seem to hold up really well. My current top is 19yrs old and the plastic window is still clear and in good shape. I think I'll be placing an order with topsonline this week as they also carry staypads and cables and the prices are good.

That bottom pic doesn't look right. My stock plastic window is 2.5in down from the top seam and 3in in from the side seams.
IIRC the glass window is ~2in shorter and ~2in narrower. The shorter is going to be more noticeable.

This is absolutely correct. I used the same contact cement and took my time. i started at the back and worked my way forward. very simple to do.
