Rear bow help
Hi team Vert
I get this problem when the hood is up in my IROC, on both sides. Looks shabby and I want to put it right. The strips have come away from teh rubber and I have tried to glue them back with superglue
Do I need a new rear bow seal? Can I remove the old one easily? Any tips, advice?
Appreciated.
Regards,
Felix

Re: Rear bow help
It looks like the bow seal to me. The original on my vert had come apart at the molded section (end of seal) and it hung out of the car like the one in your pic. I had mine replace when the top was redone, so I dont know how much of a pain it would be to replace it yourself.
I do know the original was glued in place (3M glue) and when they replaced it they said it was best no to glue the weatherstripping incase you needed to have the top replaced again at some point (in case of vandalism, broken rear window). I believe I bought my seal through 1A Auto online?

Re: Rear bow help
Ys this is the weatherstrip piece that runs all across the bottom of the rear bow from side to side - cost about $100. NO SUPERGLUE! You can use weatherstrip adhesive, 3M or some other brand. I am not sure if these are the exact same type of attachment on all years but at the very ends (toward front of car on the piece you have hanging out) there are small screw holes with a metal tab with hole for screw - they would be screwed into the underside of the top bow - they really do not hold very well even if new as the stress from the rubber scraping across the body when going up/down tends to tear the metal tabs out - my brand new seal did the same as your old one, use weatherstrip adhesive, not very much though.
If you are going to remove and replace this piece it is likely on with weatherstrip adhesive shich is a pain to remove, they do make a special remover but carefully read the instructions.
